2008 Vic Poker Champs Kick Off At Crown

One of australian poker ’s biggest events of the year has kicked off at Crown Poker, The 2008 Victorian Poker Championships.

With thirteen official Championship events on offer, culminating in the three day $2,700 No Limit Holdem Main Event, plus feature events including Mixed Games, $100,000K Challenge, Camp Quality Poker Cup and Ladies Night, this year’s Championship is not to be missed.

Australian Features In PokerStars Sunday Millions

It was a big weekend for Australian online poker player, “ Andy McLeod ”; who scored a $76,000 result in PokerStars Sunday Millions tournament.

Starting as one of two chip leaders on the final table, “ Andy McLeod ” took a hit when a blind versus blind battle saw his AQo run in to “Fred_Brink”s KK.

“ Andy McLeod ” then knocked out 9th and 8th placed finishers as he tried to continue playing his uber-aggressive style and rebuild his stack.

As play got down to four players, “ Andy McLeod ”’s final push of AQo from the small blind over the top of the under the gun raise ran straight in to pocket rockets(AA) of “RProp” and the aussie run was finished for a nice collect of $US75,879.

Another notable Aussie online pokerfinish in the big Sunday tourney’s at PokerStars was “ADEdownunder”, who took $US3,353.40 for a 3rd place finish in the PokerStars $215Pot Limit Omaha Hi/Lo tourney.

WSOP Europe Scheule Released

The 2008 WSOP Europe will be hosted by London Clubs International (LCI) and held at the ultra-prestigious Casino at the Empire.

With the U.S. American version of the WSOP stalled and waiting for the November 9th final table to be played, the WSOP-E is ready to take center stage.

Set to begin on September 19th, this year’s WSOP Europe will have four bracelet events.

They are:

• Sept 19 - Event #1: £1,500 - No-Limit Hold’em
• Sept 22 - Event #2: £2,500 - H.O.R.S.E.
• Sept 24 - Event #3: £5,000 - Pot Limit Omaha
• Sept 27 - Event #4: £10,000 - Main Event

Betfair, the 2008 WSOP Europe major sponsors, are currently running satellites to all these events.

Aussie Wins NZ Poker Champs

Australian David Borg has outplayed compatriot Tony Hachem for the biggest win of his career in the New Zealand Poker Championship final in Christchurch at the weekend.

Borg took out the trophy and $NZ100,000 ($A81,910) in prize money.

“This is the biggest win of my career, I really can’t believe it,” he said on Sunday.
