Many players who are coming to Texas Hold’em from Omaha hi wonder if they can bring their Omaha hi strategy over, make a few small changes, and still be profitable. While there are a lot of variables in the equation, the answer is generally yes.
If you look at the two games objectively, they share many of the same characteristics. Every player is dealt hole cards, there are community cards, and the winning poker hand rankings are the same. So obviously, many components of a successful Omaha hi strategy can be used to win at Texas Hold’em, and most parts of a successful Texas Hold’em strategy can be used in Omaha hi.

Many things will not transfer over 100%, like starting hands and betting strategies, but they can be easily adapted if you put a little time into it and do some testing. Once you work out all the kinks and have a profitable strategy, you will notice that it is not that different from your other poker strategy. In the end, poker is poker. The same principles can be applied to online Texas Hold’em, Omaha hi, or any other form of poker online and you will still be successful. It’s not a huge mystery like everyone thinks. Once you grasp the basic concepts of the game and work out a strategy, it is quite easy to make a good amount of money playing!

Omaha Hi and Texas Hold’em strategies share many similar components and work in very similar ways. So, if you have a profitable Omaha hi strategy, you can easily adapt it to Texas Hold’em and still be profitable, and vice versa. The key is testing your system playing with free money and making sure it is profitable before you start using real money. If even a small part of your strategy is not adapted correctly, like some starting hands, it can be the difference between being profitable and losing your bankroll. Test your strategy, play smart, and make big money at your favorite poker sites online!

using free games to test a strategy is a terrible idea, players do not play with play money the same as they play with real money, any successful strategy you think you have on free money games will likely fall to bits in the real world.

There are huge differences between Texas Holdem and Omaha high, the use of 4 cards in Omaha creates such a huge adjustment in thinking that you are better to go back to square one and learn the new game from scratch than to think you can just modify your strategy a bit and be successful.
