Poker Machines are random, and are set so that the odds are in the favour of the house. This means that you can’t beat a poker machine. If you want to play a game where you can beat the house, either play poker against weak players (the house still takes a rake, but at least you’re probably going to win something), or play blackjack – a game where it is possible to beat the house.

Poker machines are only really suitable for recreation. The jackpots may be appealing, and you may get the occasinal pay-out, but in the long term it’s likely that as a poker machine user you will lose more than you win in the long run.

The only way to beat the poker machines is to not play them. Of course, that option isn’t much fun – so, instead of simply avoiding them, why not treat them as a recreational activity? Only spend money that you can afford to lose, and then treat any winnings as a bonus.
