WSOP Main Event Update

The World Series of Poker Main Event is now well underway, and the field has been whittled down from 6,598 players to just 719. The money bubble is now rapidly approaching.

The current chip leader is Dave D’Alesandro, who holds 1.1 million in chips. He is an experienced poker play, with a good record in the world of online poker, and now he’s proving that he’s talented in the real world too.

Noteable eliminations so far include Pius Heinz, Jerry Yang, Barry Greenstein, and Shane Warne. There are still some big names among the list of survivors, however, including Vanessa Selbst, who has been gradually increasing her stack over the past two days, and Sorel Mizzi, who went from being one of the short stacks to one of the top contenders over the course of the first few hours of Day 3.

We can expect the money bubble to burst tomorrow, after a fast-paced day today, and it’s likely that by the end of Day 4 there will be just a couple of hundred players remaining. We can expect to see some tactical play, as some people play cautiously in an attempt to survive the bubble, while those in the mid to upper chip counts use that caution to improve their stacks even more. It should be exciting to watch!
