The World Poker Tour: Venice began on the 3rd February. The tournament will run until the 9th February, and is taking place at the Casino Di Venezia, in the palace of the Doge Vendremin Gabriele D’Annunzio.
The Main Event of the World Poker Tour: Venice will be a EUR 3,300 buy-in tournament. The organizers are hoping for a strong field of players, and the tournament will be televised. In 2009, the tournament saw almost 400 entrants, and there is hope that a similar number of players will enter the 2011 tournament.
Expected entrants include poker pros Tony G, Mike Sexto, Arnaud Mattern, Gragan Gallic, Fabrice Soulier, and Claire Renaut.
As well as this tournament, there are plans for a high-roller poker tournament with a ten thousand Euro entry fee. This tournament will start on the 7th February and run until the 9th February, giving the high-rollers that enter a chance to enjoy the tournament and also take in some of the city’s fabulous scenery.
