It seems that the poker world isn’t content to just relax and enjoy some post World Series of Poker downtime. Instead of enjoying a brief slowdown in the poker calendar, all eyes in the poker industry have been watching PokerStars, waiting for an announcement regarding a possible deal between the company and the Department of Justice.
The rumours concerned the possibility of PokerStars acquiring Full Tilt Poker – if it goes ahead, then Full Tilt players that have been owed money since that fateful Black Friday would get their money back from PokerStars “well in time for Christmas Shopping”.
So far, there’s been no formal announcement made, so there’s no point in getting your hopes up – until either PokerStars or the Department of Justice confirms the rumours, they are exactly that, rumours. It would be nice to see an announcement made today – especially since there are so many people who have been out of pocket for so long.
Professional poker player Kathy Liebert seems to believe that there could be a deal in the works, and has been quite active on Twitter, joking around and encouraging speculation. If she knows something, though, she isn’t letting on.
We will, of course, post any news about the deal (or lack thereof), as soon as we learn more. For all players that were affected by black friday, we’re keeping our fingers crossed that something good does come out of this.
