The World Series of Poker is now, effectively, over (well, except for the nine people who are on a break until October). This means that the poker season has paused for a while.

Fortunately, the post WSOP slumber won’t last long. On August 4th, the season will resume with the WPT Merit Cyprus Classic, a $4,000 buy-in tournament with a re-entry option for players that are unfortunate enough to bust out on day 1.

Following on from the Merit Cyprus Classic, the WPT Parx Open Classic will kick off on August 10th, and run until August 15th at the Parx Casino in Bensalem, Pennsylvania. This is an official WPT stop, and will be broadcast as part of the WPT Television Schedule. This tournament has already generated a lot of buzz, and is seen as a good stop for both “grinder” pros, and amateurs that live in the area.

To round out the month, there will be the 2012 Legends of Poker tournament at the Bicycle Casino in Los Angeles. This tournament will run from the 24th-29th August, and the final table will be televised. The Legends of Poker tournament is always big news, and draws out both California residents and tournament pros looking to enjoy the sunny climate.

The September/October schedule is looking busy too, with a wealth of tournaments taking place in Europe over that time. So, the “pause” is just for one week, don’t get too comfortable!
