Professional poker player Beth Shak has been taken to court by her ex-husband, over her shoe collection. Daniel Shak is a hedge fund manager at SHK Asset Management, and the people whose funds he manages must be feeling pretty concerned at the moment, because he claims that his wife had a secret shoe collection that consisted of 1,200 pairs of shoes, owrth more than $1million dollars in total, and he’s only just found out about it now that they’re divoced.

Mr Shak claims that this room full of shoes would was hidden from him deliberately so that his ex-wife would not have to hand over a fortune in the divorce settlement. he has request an accounting of her shoe collection.

Mr Shak’s lawyers say that “Dan trusted his wife and was not inspecting his home to try to find inventory or secret rooms”.

I’m pretty sure it’s hard to hide a closet with 1,200 pairs of shoes in it – how did Mr Shak not notice that his wife wore different shoes almost every day? Was she shopping for them in secret, and hording them, never to wear them in public?

Next time Beth appears at the World Series of Poker, I bet all eyes will be on her feet, not her hands!
