Jonathan Duhamel Speaks on Robbery
Jonathan Duhamel has spoken out about what happened at his home on December 21st, when two intruders, one posing as a delivery man, barged into his Montreal-area home. Duhamel, who had just woken up when the intruders arrived, opened the door to his home, expecting a delivery of some Christmas presents. He was attacked by two men, and took a serious beating.
“I’ve played hockey all my life, so I’ve had some fights – but not one like this one,” Duhamel said in an interview with a Canadian newspaper. “They took me by surprise. At first I thought he was the only one, but then the second came by my back and I never saw him and he just kicked me in the head.”
Duhamel opened his safe, which the intruders seemed to have prior knowledge of, because he feared for his safety. Duhamel believes that he was “sold out” by someone close to him. He had to had over his WSOP 2010 bracelet, a stack of cash, and a Rolex watch. He was injured in the attack, and had to spend a few hours being treated for his wounds in hospital, but he should suffer no long-term ill effects.
Four people have been charged as a result of the attack, including his ex-girlfriend, Bianca Rojas-Latraverse. The couple had a turbulent relationship, but broke up on fairly normal terms.
