The Poker Hall of Fame has welcomed two new members – Brian Roberts and Eric Drache. The announcement of the new inductees came as a result of voting by members of the media and existing Hall of Fame members. The official induction ceremony will take place on October 30th.
Drache has appeared in the final table of World Series of Poker tournaments five times in his career, with the most recent appearance netting him second place in the Seven Card Stud event. Off the felt, he has worked as a WSOP tournament director, and also been the manager of several Las Vegas poker rooms, including the rooms at the Bellagio and the Mirage.
Mirage said of his nomination, “I’m not only surprised and honored to have been selected, I’m also a bit embarrassed considering the other nominees. When Jack Binion and myself worked on creating the Hall of Fame, I never considered myself a potential candidate. I’m particularly happy for the family of Sailor Roberts. Sailor, by everyone’s account, including my own personal observations, was a great player and played many games very well.”
Roberts was a two-time WSOP bracelt holder, with one of those bracelets being for the Main Event. He was a friend to many big names in the world of poker, including Amarillo Slim. Roberts passed away in 1995.
The induction will take place at the Rio All-Suite Hotel and Casino later this month.
