A 12 year old schoolboy spent almost £7,000 on his father’s credit card in just one week, playing at online casinos.
Declan Hind signed up for an online casino and entered his father’s credit card details. He got caught up in the excitement of playing, even though he was losing money. He threw more and more money at the games in an attempt to make back what he had lost. His father only realised what was happening when his credit card stopped working.
The father, Keith Hind, said “Declan had red-lined my credit card, which is probably a good thing or he probably would have kept going. I was mad, really livid for weeks. But I was also shocked – it was so easy for him to do it.”
Declan is now 13 year’s old. He started gambling after he got hooked on mobile phone games that he had downloaded. His father was very angry when Declan’s gambling was discovered, but Declan is now trying to make things right, and is working with Prevention Town, a charity which aims to prevent under-age children from taking part in gambling. The hope is that he will be able to help others from falling into the same issues as he fell into.
