Australian poker players the world over are thrilled to welcome the upcoming 2012 PokerStars.net Australia New Zealand Poker Tour (ANZPT). This glittering contest sports a series of fantastic poker showdowns taking place in Sydney, the Gold Coast, Queenstown and of course Melbourne. The premier attraction - the Melbourne leg of the tour – takes place between August 31^st and September 3^rd, 2012.

The History of the Sizzling-Hot ANZPT

Back in March 2012 – from the 22^nd through 25^th March – the Australia New Zealand Poker Tour kicked off in Sydney, at The Star Casino & Resort. A massive AU$2,200 Main Event Buy-in was the showpiece. The tour then migrated to Jupiters Casino on the Gold Coast, in June 2012. During July 24 to July 29, 2012, the ANZPT Snowfest kicked in to action in Queenstown, a New Zealand $3,000 Main Event contest. But arguably the finest, and most revered, poker contest takes place at the Crown Casino in Melbourne, Australia.

These announcements – taken together – will result in a reduction in the total number of ANZPT poker events when compared to 2011. In 2012, the ANZPT is focusing more directly on sending people via satellites into tournaments in order for a larger prize pool to be created. The ANZPT Grand Final will be held between 31^st August and the 3^rd of September 2012. This particular Grand Final features as the APPT Melbourne Event, with a AU$5,000 Main Event. As can be expected, various smaller poker contests – such as the Adelaide Poker Zone Cup – will remain satellite friendly, in addition to qualifying for Australia New Zealand (ANZ) Player of the Year points.
