The Australia/New Zealand Poker Tour (ANZPT) forms part of a series of world-class poker tournaments ranking high on poker aficionados’ gaming calendars.

Poker fans will be delighted with news of the upcoming ANZPT scheduled to take place at the Melbourne Crown Casino. The October 8th-11th poker tournament comprises the 6th leg of the tour and is a much anticipated event in Australasia. The event promises action aplenty and a dazzling array of poker prizes. Plus, qualified entrants will get to mingle with the who’s who of the poker world and enjoy the glitz and glamor of the high-roller’s life at the Crown Casino.

What to expect at the Melbourne leg of the ANZPT?

The tournament currently taking place pits poker players from both New Zealand and Australia against one another in a battle of wit, luck and strategy. Indeed Season One attracted a stunning 1,309 global entrants with a massive prize pool of AUD$2,982,436 up for grabs. Season 2 participants can expect no less. Satellite tournaments and qualifiers for the ANZPT Melbourne have been drumming up considerable excitement amongst players and the turnout is expected to reflect this interest.

The Melbourne poker contest uncovered

PokerStars.net Australia teams up with the NZPT (New Zealand Poker Tour) to bring the beautiful host city of Melbourne a contest worthy of playing for. The glorious 3-day event at the Crown Casino also forms part of a wider 10-day Poker Championship.

The first stage of the Melbourne Event kicked off on October 2nd with a series of exciting satellite events. These satellite events were made up of both a Step 1 buy-in AUS$75 ($60 +$15) and a Step 2 AUS$300 ($270 + $30) buy in. These Step 1/Step 2 events will end on Friday October 8th with the commencement of the ANZPT Main Event.

Friday October 8th: The No-Limit Hold’em Deepstack phase kicks off with high stakes of $10,200.

Saturday October 9th: The ANZPT Melbourne Main Event gathers momentum with an AUS$2,700 buy-in + watch out for the Aussie Millions.

Sunday October 10th: Today is Day 2 of the ANZPT and there’s plenty of No-Limit Hold’em on the cards.

Monday October 11th: The ANZPT Main Event will wrap up, don’t miss today’s poker plays.

The commissioner of the ANZPT, Danny McDonagh, has put the prize money up for grabs for the Main Event at more than AUS$1 million. The crush of players making their rounds is expected to garner considerable coverage in the poker world. Plus there will be the added benefit of Player of the Year Points being awarded to deserving recipients.
