Oliver Speidel is the official winner of the 2011 Aussie Millions Poker Championship. This prestigious tournament ranks highly in poker gaming circles and it saw some 20 official events taking place during the course of the 2011 tournament. Every January at the Crown Casino in Melbourne, Australia this top-tier tournament kicks off. The AUD$10,600 NL Hold’em Main Event was the crowning glory of the tournament. It is only fitting that Melbourne’s son – Oliver Speidel – won the contest. And with the win came a Rolex watch and a diamond-studded ring.
Some 659 players peppered the gaming arena for the 2011 Aussie Millions. And towards the end, there were just 7 players left at the final table. Oliver Speidel dominated the contest and the last day’s play. Along the way he ousted Yann Dion, Bjorn Li and Patrick Healy. A series of methodical plays sent Speidel into overdrive. He took down the competition in Mohamad Kowssarie, Mile Krtanoski and even Kenneth Wong. The latter player drew a 9 (clubs) and a 9 (hearts). Surprisingly, Speidel wrought havoc with his double Ace – Ace (clubs) and Ace of (spades). The rest as they say is history.
